Section 8 Landlord Information

Landlords are a vital part of the Leased Housing Program. The information contained here is designed to ensure your understanding of how the program works and answer some of your questions. We hope it will be a valuable asset to you.

You will find several items we hope will assist landlords in screening and selecting tenants. We also include information that the Landlord is required by law to provide to tenants before they lease their unit and at move out.

Our experience is that most questions can be answered by reading the HAP contract. So, we have provided a link to a copy of the HUD Housing Assistance Payment (HAP) contract. This contract outlines the requirements and responsibilities of the Landlord, Tenant, and Housing Authority.

You will find some extra information that is provided as a courtesy. These are things we think are helpful when you rent your unit. We tell you how you may best utilize these items. These include copies of Housekeeping 101 pamphlet from the Credit Bureau, a handbook about inspections, and lead-based paint pamphlet.

If you have a question that is not addressed here or in the handbook, you may contact the Leased Housing Department for help.

Welcome to the Lease Housing Program of the Evansville Housing Authority. We look forward to working with you to provide quality housing for Evansville residents.
