Section 8 Assistance

Veterans Affairs Supportive Housing (VASH) Vouchers

The HUD-Veterans Affairs Supportive Housing (HUD-VASH) program combines Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) rental assistance for homeless Veterans with case management and clinical services provided by the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).  VA provides these services for participating Veterans at VA medical centers (VAMCs) and community-based outreach clinics.

Every year since 2008, HUD and VA have awarded HUD-VASH vouchers based on geographic need and public housing agency (PHA) administrative performance.  In October 2014, The Evansville Housing Authority (EHA) was awarded 16 additional Veterans Affairs Supportive Housing (VASH) vouchers in the amount of $64,387.  EHA was able to increase the number of homeless veterans that are provided rental assistance from 15 to 31 in 2014.  EHA will continue to apply for the vouchers as they become available.

If you are a homeless Veteran, or know someone who may qualify for the HUD VASH program, please call 1-877-424-3838 or 877-4AID-Vet for additional information. Someone will be available to assist you 24/7, regardless of your location.
